Providence, Rhode Island

After hearing that MLP had a Live show that came out in 2006 I was very skeptical at first. I was like "Oh great!" *with a hint of sarcasm* I felt that the show would be really cheesy up there with all of the Sesame Live shows that are always being advertised on the radio. Anyway, I was curious as to what the show would be like and whether I should really pass up the opportunity to see MLPs in a show as well as to see what exclusive merchandise was there too. ;) I brought up the idea to Briana saying I could take her to the show for her 26th birthday which was just after Thanksgiving with our collector friend Lori (who's 26 and I'm 22). Briana questioned that it might be too torturous to see and said she wouldn't mind going to see it if she was very drunk first. In the end we took her too the show actually on her birthday (which worked out perfect) and had a blast, sans the need of alcohol. Part from our age and appearance, you wouldn't have been able to tell the three of us apart from the crazed mass of other little girls at the show. lol We had a lot of fun with it and definitely showed our pony pride and our roots by wearing MLP shirts and bringing our vintage ponies. So here are some pictures for everyone to see of our trip. ^_^

Arriving at the show early to pick up the tickets!

They had a Cotton Candy boothe in the lobby, but we didn't buy any till showtime. I almost wished it had said Cotton Candy Cafe. ;)

This was on the show's poster on one of the windows outside the theater.

There was even a vendor down the street selling MLP carnival plushies. We saw lots of little girls carrying one of these and we even saw a little girl bring a giant Styling Rarity to the show. So cute!

This is the three of us under the marquee of the theater. To the left is me Britanny, in a Cherries Jubilee shirt holding Skyflier (of course, she goes everywhere with me lol), then Briana, (aka Starflower) holding Starflower in a "My Little Obsession" shirt, and Lori, (aka SkyRocketneko) holding Skyrocket in an Apple Jack t-shirt.

Our ponies held our tickets for us. ^_^ At the door they gave everyone a giant paper tea cup with the show's title on it.

Then...THE MERCH!! *drool* In case you don't get to see it in person, this is what the boothes looked like. They even had a t-shirt and pennant flag which haven't been shown before. I spent a looooot of money during the intermission.

From above!

Here is Briana pointing to a BOY playing a girl pony. *snicker* She thought this was amusing. ;)

Minutes before show time!

One more pic of the three of us before the show started. ^_^

Then... a PONY! *gasp* They're really real!!! lol Here's Pinkie Pie! Part from the loss of neck of these ponies the costumes were actually very clever and fully functioning from the movement of the mouth, the blink of the eyes, and the kick of the legs. We came to the conclusion that it's just one person per costume and the performer's legs were in the front legs of the costume. The performers were able to see through a colored mesh at the peak of the ponies mane on their foreheads. Even I didn't know how they were able to see until someone explained it to me after.

Then came Spike and a pair of really annoying happy dancey Lady Bugs.

Then came the ponies!! Here's the storyline summary from the website:

THE WORLD'S BIGGEST TEA PARTY

In MY LITTLE PONY LIVE! “The World’s Biggest Tea Party,” PINKIE PIE and her seven charming Ponyville friends each have an extra-special talent and skill to help with the party! With MINTY’s invitations, SWEETBERRY’s cakes, RAINBOW DASH’s rainbows, RARITY THE UNICORN’s colorful streamers, WYSTERIA’s flowers and so much more, the ponies use their colorful imaginations and work together to host the biggest party of the year!

This 90-minute interactive musical production features singing, dancing and audience participation. Parents will enjoy the Broadway-quality stagecraft and original script. Children will recognize songs such as “I’m a Little Teapot” and enjoy new tunes like “Positively Pink,” “Shake Your Cutie” and “You’re Cordially Invited.” And, along the way, children will learn important lessons about the true meaning of friendship from the wholesome, loving and playful spirit of everybody’s favorite MY LITTLE PONY friends.

This was at the post office where Minty messed up all the stamps and actually came out with a blanket of them all stucked to her at one point. Then after realizing they couldn't send an actual invitation to everyone in the audience, a giant one unfolded from above before intermission.

At the stroke of intermission we were up and out to the merchandise boothes!!  In the end I bought a Sugarberry and Pinkie Pie plush (which say MLP Live on the bottom of a hoof), Minty and Pinkie Pie tea set, and one of the flags. If the shirt would have fit, I totally would have gotten one too. I also had the errand of buying stuff for DelC who knew I was going. I think after getting his and my stuff, the vendor thought I was totally crazed. ^_^;;

Another group shot, plus the addition of some cotton candy. It just wouldn't have been the same without the cotton candy.

Briana eating all the cotton candy.  It was awesome, we all felt like a kid again. ^_^ Afterwards Briana said she had so much fun because it was like having an awesome kiddy birthday again.

The show returned to Sew-n-So's place because everyone needed a costume.

After dressing up in boas, Spike came out and actually rapped for the audience. He even wore a gold gangsta necklace. ;)

Rarity the unicorn! Hehe we kept saying that we think the performer must be really tall because her back feet hardly ever touched the ground. ;)

The pretty castle!

Dancin'

Near the end when they were all together to celebrate their tea party, everyone had everything except for Pinkie Pie. Pinkie Pie was busy getting everyone else organized that she forgot to bring the tea! For shame Pinkie! ; )

Then with a "squink" from the audience, a giant tea pot appeared! Everyone raised their paper tea cups high and sipped our imaginary tea.

The End!

Afterwards back at home, we continued to party it up and the three of us, Randy, and our friend Brian (aka Chappy) partied it up at the club Bar in New Haven. Briana finally had her alcohol but it was long after the show. ;)

And here's Chappy chillin' with us in Briana's room with Sparkleworks in the back and Sew-n-So at his side.

And that is how we celebrated Briana's 26th birthday! ^_^
